It is hard to describe or even to imagine such a beautiful retreat:
the air clear and crisp, the sky blue, bright sunlight creating sharp patterns on the zendo floor, two talks about 'inspiration', beautiful cooking and serving, oriyoki meals and then the birthday of Buddha, with a story of the stir in the Dunkin Donuts when the ladies from the Indian subcontinent realized who the cake honored.
The teaching to find a path to inspiration that begins with the broken heart feels like a rich and powerful teaching, adding a touch of sweetness to the melancholy I feel today.
What a beautiful celebration it was!
