Can you see temptation and distraction coming?

Or are you caught off guard and taken captive by

  • Talking about the weaknesses of others
  • Holding grudges
  • Being consistently rigid in a view of another
  • NOT noticing your greatest problem
  • Hoping and wanting a PARTICULAR result
  • Giving and eating poisonous food

Keep a lookout for temptation and distraction to indulge in these harmful ways

Well, recently, I had wanted certain things to turn out a certain way.

Things have not turned out the way I had planned. BUT....although I experienced a good amount of tension and annoyance...slowly, one breath at a time, and with encouragement from Liz, I have been able to "let go" of the way I wanted it and just finish it up in whatever way is possible.

I kept asking myself:
"How important is this?" and the truth is that it is not very important in the big picture of life...there is still tension there and I keep taking deep breaths and slowly I feel the tension fading a little. Sooooo that is it for now.

Perhaps I need to ask myself more questions about the tension.

I have a feeling it might be about more than just wanting things to be the way I want them to be.

I think perhaps I have made this particular situation into something bigger than it is.... I will also take a look at some of the other parts to this question later.

Someone gave this definition of patience: radical acceptance with a core of relaxation. Gives me the image of sitting in an easy chair in the middle of...whatever ugh.

Maybe even just a dollop of relaxation helps!

Ansgar and Deb:

Thanks for your peaceful comments...they helped.

Yes...I'll have that:

"radical acceptance with a dollop of relaxation please"

What a beautiful mantra for times of tension!!! Thanks.
