Dhammapada
If you do not find an intelligent companion,A fellow travelerOf good conduct, and wise,Travel alone,Like a king renouncing a conquered kingdom,Like the elephant Matanga on the forest.
Thank you for such a reminder that complacency is renounced...and how hard that is to let go of...like this king who let go of a conquered kingdom...thank you.
All I know is that MAtanga was an elephant that had difficult living with the herd so went off alone...the elephant is revered in buddhist lore...for the footprint of the elephant holds the footprint of all other beings...
